Hāmama Falls Huaka'i
Before this trip i was hoping to gain more knowledge of how we get our water and the process of how the water gets to us. I thought the weather was going to be an over cast since it is Eastside there is rainfalls more often then the west side because of the clouds passing Ko'olau mountains. I knew it was going to be more green and moist. I hoped to connect with our ancestors since we were going in the ahupua'a of Waihe'e where are ancestors settled. During the trip, I got everything I hoped for and wanted. I have been well educated from our mentor that works for the board of water supply. He taught us the whole process of the water cycle and we experienced every step in the process of the water cycle. From evaporation to precipitation. He took us threw the tunnel where they measure there freshwater from the mountains. The water measured in the tunnel is measured through pressured per square foot. We took a trip where the victim of water becomes fresh water wai. We went to the Waihe'e water fall where the freshwater is falling through the stream. I thought this trip was very educational and very helpful because it helps us to understand where we get our needs from and the process of how our islands gets it. It also helps with the upcoming assignments that is being assigned for the class of Mālama Honua.
